Sailing and Family Fun at BDYC

What makes BDYC unique is that it’s not just a marina — it’s a non-profit club run mostly by volunteers. Our members participate in Docks-In and Docks-Out at the beginning and end of the season, helping to build an even stronger sailing community.

As a BDYC Member, Your Benefits Are Numerous

  • Organized, club-themed BBQs every Saturday for the whole family.
  • Use of our outdoor green space, picnic tables, deck and BBQs.
  • Use of our indoor space, including the kitchen, tables and couches.
  • Access to clean toilets and shower facilities.
  • Availability of one of our bosuns, when needed.
  • Organized club and inter-club races and events.
  • Free access to our 3 club dinghies.
  • Access to paid sailing lessons for juniors and adults.

Choose The Right Membership For You

1. Family Membership — Sailing Brings Us All Together

Spending your summers sailing at BDYC will bring your family wonderful lifetime memories. Our family members love the opportunity to spend valuable time with their loved ones and friends, sailing casually or racing. With a family membership, you can choose a water berth for your keelboat OR a shore berth for your dinghy, with varying harbour and storage fees based on your boat specs.

2. Junior Membership — Develop Skills and Grow Your Passion

This is a wonderful and inexpensive option for your children aged 12–19 years. They will further develop their sailing skills and grow their passion for sailing. Sailing helps develop physical skills like balance, coordination and spatial awareness, as well as critical decision-making and leadership skills. Combined with time on our beautiful lake, your child will thrive. With a junior membership, your child can have their own dinghy or catamaran.

No sailing experience? Join our renowned BDYC Junior Squadron.

3. Student Membership — Under 30?

If you’re still in school and under 30, the Student membership offers an incredibly affordable way to get all the BDYC perks. You can either bring in a dinghy or a keelboat (space permitting). Spend time with your friends on the water and enjoy the BDYC grounds for your après-sail!

No sailing experience? Join our new BDYC Adult Sailing Program.

4. Crew Membership — Bring It On!

Don’t under-estimate your value — you can become a crucial part of a racing team! If you plan to consistently crew for a boat-owning family member, the Crew Membership is for you. You’ll enjoy exciting time on the water plus all the BDYC membership perks. Sailing experience is ideal but you don’t need to be a pro!

5. Social Membership — Join in The Fun!

Whether you sold your sailboat or simply want to be surrounded by the sailing and lake community, you are welcome at BDYC! Our social events — mainly the Saturday evening themed BBQs — are the main attraction for social members and a great way to socialize, volunteer and connect with the community. Don’t be shy — you are welcome here!

Interested in Becoming a BDYC Member?

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Review the BDYC membership fees.
  2. Complete the BDYC application form — print and email it to membership@bdyc.com.
  3. We’ll contact you with any clarifications, then request final confirmation. New members have a casual, friendly meeting with the Membership Director at BDYC before final approval.
  4. We’ll send you an invoice for payment.

Please Note: Memberships for dinghies are usually processed quickly. However, if you have a keelboat, water berths are limited — submit your application early to get on the Waiting List.

How Does The Waiting List Work?

  • Non-boat owners — the best path is to wait until a current member sells their boat. Boats are offered to members and the waiting list before the public, so it’s worth getting on the list. There are usually 5–10 people on the waiting list who don’t own a boat.
  • Boat owners — when a member’s boat is sold outside the club and a slip becomes available, that’s your opportunity. There are usually about 10 people on the waiting list who already own a boat.

My suggestion: get on the Waiting List by submitting your member application.
